Does anyone know if there will be another Blue Ridge Bus Tour later in the year?

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

I found a 16Gb apple iphone tonight in the road, it had an otter box protective cover on it, But it has been hit by a car and the screen is shattered. Is it worth fixing or garbage? I know they aren't cheap.
any way of reading the memory card in it to find the owner and get all the important stuff back to em? I did pull the memory stick out and its not broke.
Thanks!

yes you can read the card. its not worth fixing, but wort it if you can get it back to the owner, since they may have insurance on it and can get another..

A new screen for that phone is pretty cheap if it is otherwise functional. There are numbers on the sim card which at&t could use to find the owner, but they will not be able to give you the information.... The only thing you could really do would be to take it to a corporate at&t store and they could contact the customer and hold the phone for them.

If the person with that phone had insurance then they would not need to have the phone to make the claim, so that would not make much difference.

So far as I know iphones don't back up their info like other smartphones/networks do... so doubt they will be able to get any of their info back unless it is on the sim or the phone is repaired.

if you get an ipod cable and plug it into a PC it *might* show up in iTunes. Then you can get the S/N from the phone and feed that back to Apple.

BUT: It might not be formatted for a PC. If it was originally formatted for a mac then it may not be readable on the PC. IIRC a mac can probably read both PC and mac formatted ipods/iphones.

If it doesn't show up in iTunes then I would expect that more than just the screen is busted.,

*Update*
I did not know my brother rebuilds and sells ipods, so he has software on his computer to download everything off an ipod or iphone to erase the harddrive and send it off fresh and refurbed. so he said bring it over to his office, he will plug it in and remove everything from the hardrive and we will go from that point. he said its not worth replacing the screen, his price is $150. and the phone then would only be worth about $150.
So hopefully we can get all the info off it, find the owner and give them everything on a disc.

Why not just put a lost and found ad on Craigslist first to see if the owner may be looking for it...if that fails then charge it up or crack it open.....thats what I would hope somebody would do......they are not cheap phones (I have one!)

What kid of special iphone is this? It sounds like your brother is getting ripped off or trying to rip you off...

if it is just cracked glass/digitizer then you can buy a kit on amazon for $11... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ISL548/ref=ox_ya_oh_product&tag=whatshouiget-20

if it is the lcd screen, then that too is available on amazon for $19... http://www.amazon.com/iPhone-2nd-gen-8GB-16GB/dp/B001T7K2FQ
so in total we are at $30... what are you spending the extra $120 on??????

I should stop selling phones and start repairing them if there is that kind of mark up on parts/labor!

Take a look yourself. $11 isn't going to fix this cracked screen...
I posted a lost ad on craigslist, and within 30 min. the phone rang off the hook, so i took it down. it seems everybody has lost an iphone.
I'm going to take it to at&t tomorrow.

No, you would need the $19 kit too...

Again, it all depends on whether it powers on or not...

In the 6 years I have worked for a cell phone company, I can still count on one hand the number of times someone has found a phone and tried to return it to its owner.

and actually, as bad as that looks... I have screens cracked that bad that didn't actually puncture the LCD... that one looks like it is though

iPhone in the road means it was ditched. Crime related or angry SO. Too bad you can not call to see if they *want* it back.

I pull over for cell phones all the time. most are female teens who leave them on the roof of the car and drive away.
I often find "mom" in the phone book and give her a call. once I had a mom tell me her daughter lost 4 phones within a month.
she told me to keep it. her daughter wasn't ready for a cell.

The last time I found a cell phone it was in the parking lot of a restaurant... and it was there... bag and all... yes, this was 20 years or so ago...

Even working at a cell phone store I don't find them in the parking lot. That must be a NY thing to have cell phones lying all over the place

My cell works just fine in one spot in my living room if i extend my left hand and slightly bend my elbow and stand on one foot, with the other off the floor and out to the right, and the winds not blowing... I don't know what you mean they dont work?
