Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

what do you know about tie rods it said put back on with same # of turns as taken off took off in 12 turns but takes 13 to put back on the locking nut is in same spot at the 13 turns is this ok need to know now

Thanks for the links Kevin. Those will definitely provide wrenching opportunities! LOL. But it is a start and low entry cost for sure. Browsing the samba site proven to be quite interesting. Some really cool custom and originals on there. Gives me some ideas!

I've never done any metal work before, but it appears that if I get into this I'll get a chance to learn how.
Next thing I need to do is start looking a pricing on parts. Just to get an idea of what to expect to pay over the long term if I am going to have to do a full/most resto. I don't know much, but what I do know, I'm not sure of.
