I agree, but the gallery for this software is not all that simple to use, prob why it was harldy used. I am looking into whether there are any plugins to make it easier.

Kewl thanks for the response Collie. I hope more people will utilize it because it's a far easier way for all Moonies to reminisce the campouts. I sure would utilize it to show pics of others and alls' kewl buses

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

ok, so i was warned about this when i got my current starter from a friend, but occationally (like today) i go to start my bus and the starter will turn over slowly and NOT stop when i take the key out... It will just keep going and going until i yank off the terminal @ the battery. Its annoying, embarassing and dangerous. Right now i just leave the + terminal pushed on, so i can yank it quick if i need to. Any thoughts on how to remedy this? ...or do i just need a new starter?

Change the solenoid. Its not hard to borrow one from another starter as they are often just as expensive as the whole thing.

Had too many vans to count

I took my starter off and took it to the alternator shop and he replaced the selonoid for $39.00, works just fine, the brass guide cost $1.95 and was a easy fix. just ran a tap through it and it jacked the old one right out, used a bolt and nut to put the new one in, put the guide on the bolt with the nut behind it, tapped it in with a hammer. Of course do this with the battery disconnected, bus/van on jack stand, to axcess starter, wheels chocked, and don't go to sleep under the van.

thanks guys, over the weekend I decided that I will try (as you guys have suggested) to swap out the old solenoid for one off one of the 2 starters I have as parts. As this isn't a huge priority at the moment (lots of work to do!) I will let you know how it goes when I get around to it. In the meantime, I will jsut keep the batt. disconnected until I need it. no UT vanagon fire repeat for me! http://jalopnik.com/5920806/volkswagen-van-drives-itself-into-condo-while-on-fire
