I agree, but the gallery for this software is not all that simple to use, prob why it was harldy used. I am looking into whether there are any plugins to make it easier.

Kewl thanks for the response Collie. I hope more people will utilize it because it's a far easier way for all Moonies to reminisce the campouts. I sure would utilize it to show pics of others and alls' kewl buses

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

My 72 bus got a fresh 1800cc 914 motor, new Kaddie carbs, and new bosh coil partaily installed two winters ago but wasn't finished and sat with just build oil in it and never got started. Returned to the project in spring and i think the piston rings got stuck because it wont turn. Now its filled with PB blaster in hopes to unstick but I have a new job and no time to work on. Looking for some one to get running and tune so it can make it first moonie camp out. will trade services for cash, beer, stock 1700 long block (needs rebuild), or something just let me know!

Thanks,
John
Will also trade both long block motors for a nice running 2L or corvair!

finally got the motor pulled and suddenly the motor spins freely now. looks like the builder left the 228mm flywheel on and didn't switch to the smaller flywheel to fit my 002 3 rib.

You just might have something there, looks like you will be putting it back in, with the correct flywheel/disc and pressure plate, make sure to have oil in the engine, then start your engine, rember to do the break in procedure. First start, take it right up to 2000 RPM (oil light must be out), and hold it for 15 minutes (this gets the cam & lifters on the same page), after the 15 minutes, let the engine cool, then start it up and set the timing and idle RPM, take it out on the road and break in the rings, procedure is, take the speed up to 10 MPH, let the engine coast back in gear, do this 5 times, then do the same for 20, 30, 40, 50 On the higher speeds use the gears, don't want you overspeeding the engine. With this done, the drive the bus, not to exceed 50MPH for 300 miles, then change the oil and filter, the next oil change is due in 3000 miles, vary the speed and don't exceed 60 MPH, after the 3000 mile oil change, the speed is up to you. now is the time to change to synthetic oil, if you want to. Be sure to run the oil that has the ZDDP in it or you will wipe out the cam. Be sure that the break in oil has the ZDDP in it... Enjoy, there are other ways to do this, I'm sure that someone will have another way.
