I agree, but the gallery for this software is not all that simple to use, prob why it was harldy used. I am looking into whether there are any plugins to make it easier.

Kewl thanks for the response Collie. I hope more people will utilize it because it's a far easier way for all Moonies to reminisce the campouts. I sure would utilize it to show pics of others and alls' kewl buses

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

In my 1990 vanagon gl(non-camper) the arms that work the vents on the front to control air flow and heat, a couple of them have "snapped" and no longer work. They were kind of hard to move before they seem to have broken. I'm not sure exactly how they work and was wondering if it was a big job to fix.

Do you mean that the knob snapped off, or everything is still there but they don't move the flaps or the heat valve. Is it the same with all of then? The second one down controls the cable for the heater core valve, and the rest control the cables for the flaps that send air to the heater/defrost/side door vents.

If you remove the ashtray, you might see a little bit of what's going on when you move the levers. If not, you may have to remove the dash cover and instrument panel.

When you say the arms, how much of the lever do you mean. The visible portion of the knob is part of a larger piece that goes back about an inch, which slips over the lever just behind the control panel. I believe this piece is metal and is connected to a a piece where it pivots.

I hear that sometimes the knob portion snaps off from the plastic sleeve that it's attached to. You have to be careful when removing them, especially if it's cold.

Yes the arms are still attached they just do not operate anything now. The first one at the top and the 3rd one down. The first one broke when it was cold and I tried to move it and that's when I figured to wait until they warmed up. The 3rd one down just seemed to have snapped when the van was warm. Just didn't know if you could get a look by removing the center panel behind the shifter just below the cd player. Thanks for the reply.
