I agree, but the gallery for this software is not all that simple to use, prob why it was harldy used. I am looking into whether there are any plugins to make it easier.

Kewl thanks for the response Collie. I hope more people will utilize it because it's a far easier way for all Moonies to reminisce the campouts. I sure would utilize it to show pics of others and alls' kewl buses

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

Hello everyone,

I have owned my westy for about 5 years now. I love it, I love this group, I love camping. The missing part of the equation is time.

So, I think that it is time to sell my westy. I do not have time to camp.

This westy is a 3 owner bus. I bought it from the second owners who owned it for about 5 months. They bought it from the original owners son.

The bus was picked up in Europe, roamed around Italy and made its way to the states.

The nose had a tire mount on it which I removed. There is some slight damage where the mount was drilled into the nose skin. You can still see where the VW emblem was as the paint is faded.

The right and left rear quarters were painted in 1976 where the original owner damaged them. I have receipts for that work.

The engine (1800) with original Dual carbs on it. The only thing that is not stock on the engine is that I removed the smog stuff as everyone told me that the Smog stuff was useless.

It still has the original upper green canvas. The canvas has a few rips in it but I could not bring myself to change it (I have a BRAND NEW canvas from Bus Depot..it has never been installed...but to me, it is tan and it is the wrong color...so I never put it on (value about 400.00).

The gas cooktop works, the water pump and sink function. the Fridge does not work...it is a 12V/120V unit. I have pulled it apart but cannot figure out what is worng..probably it is just old.

Original carpet, original front floor carpet, original green door panels. Original dash UNCUT...has original Sapphire AM radio, Radio Shack Realistic FM converter (from the 70s) which functions.

Interior is near perfect...NO RIPS, NO TEARS, all original blue/green plaid. Some little scratches and dings on panels, some laminate damage, front seat cushion material I changed out (from Wolfsburg West) with original straw stuff. Seats are perfect.

Stool, Center seat thing, Yellow bucket, Space saver spare (original to the bus), 12V accessory tire pump for filling space saver spare, childrens cot all are there.
Original factory installed gas heater with ULTRA RARE thermostat...NOT the thermostat timer thing ...this is the real deal...works great. Gas heater works AWESOME.

Hankook tires with majority of tread left, New Tie Rod ends, newer brakes, powder coated rims (silver). Powder coated front and rear bumper (white)
All engine tins powder coated black.
Engine rebuilt by Phil.

Original paperwork, tons of documentation from the original owner about trips he took in the bus, what he had done to it etc. Nice time capsule
ORIGINAL German license plate from when he lived in Germany (right when they bought it)
Many spare parts

The Bad:
it runs hot. I installed a Head temp gauge and the bus just runs hot...Phil and I have gone through it four times and the engine is in spec...it just likes to run hot.

I want 7500.00 for the bus. It is worth it. I have seen worse go for this price. You read about Survivors and all that...this falls in that category. Is it perfect...no, is it a really nice original unpainted bus..yes.

I am not interested in low balls, I am not interested in opinions about me asking too much, I am asking what I believe to be fair based on what I have seen.

I do not want to sell the bus but it is doing no good sitting in my garage and we as a family have too many things going on to really be able to enjoy it. I sadly thought it would make a difference and it appears that it has not.

Thanks
Chris

I know you don't want our opinions. But in my opinion...you won't ever sell a $7500 on words alone. Why are pictures only available upon request?

Valid point about pictures available upon request.
I have not had a chance to take pictures yet and I work about 60 hours a week including some weekends. I am hoping to get pictures taken this weekend. I have some shots scattered on my computer but I would rather send good shots of it versus uploading odd shots. I could send those if someone requested but then I was hoping to get better shots taken this weekend provided I have time to do so.
I will be traveling for the next week for work and then have a cub scout campout the following weekend, then orchestra rehearsals every night for a week...that takes me through the end of March into early April.
I have some shots scattered around on my computer but it is a little difficult to load stuff during work hours.

Thanks for the input.

Chris sell something else like a buggy .You will really miss that bus if you sell it.Put it on the volkzone website and you should sell it easy. The documentation and originality of the bus will help sell it.
