Does anyone know if there will be another Blue Ridge Bus Tour later in the year?

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

Buddah's 2012 Merlefest Campout Is Coming Up April 25-30 in Wilkesboro NC . It is held on private property (Creekside Camp) very close to the YMCA. Those that have been there before know how much fun it can be - just ask them!

With the lineup this year I would not miss it. I will be there and as far as I know Jack, Jerry and maybe a couple of friends that do Floydfest and Shakori each year with us. Rex is still waiting for the world to end, and isn't going far from home these days, but maybe this will shake him loose. Jack Jerry and I are headed to Springfest in Live Oak Fl. week after next. The bus is running better than ever and I have a new VW in the stable a 96 Passat TDI. Hope you all are doing well and look forward to catching up. How bout Lynn and J ?? Shure missed them last year.

If you can find your way to the YMCA campground on River St in Wilkesboro, just a few miles from the Merlefest Festival (at Wilkesboro Community College), you can find us at the Creekside private campground. It is just across the old runway from the Rivers Edge campground, which is the public campground (and very restrictive).

Follow these directions to the YMCA campground:

http://www.merlefestcamping.org/pdfs/travel-directions.pdf

(This will get you VERY close to Creekside)

I don't know what the cost will be this year yet. I will post as soon as I know. We VW Bus campers will be in amongst hundreds of others camping, mostly younger than us, mostly in tents. There will be music at many different campfires, many going ALL night, and most not starting up until late (when the last Merlefest concert ends).

There are free shuttle buses running to and from Merlefest all day and late into the night.

We camp together as a small group of Buses in a shaded area set apart for us by the owner. It is a primative campout with a water faucet very near to us, and porta-potties, and very cold showers. I think hot showers are available nearby for a fee. A small generator we be avaiable to us only for phone charging, etc.

Because of the nature of the other campers, bring young children with caution, and plan on keeping an eye on them. Having said this, there are families that bring kids with no hesitation at all, and there has been no problem.

Officially there are no dogs, but I was allowed to bring my dog the last two years, but he was on a leash at all times, and I never left the campground, plus he doesn't bark too much. I will ask the owner on your behalf if you want to bring your dog - just email me.

Keep in mind, that this campout is seperate from the Merlefest Concerts held on the Wilkesboro Community Campus , which is only a few miles away. Free shuttles run every hour or so to & from the Festival, just a few hundred yards away, for all the nearby campgrounds. They run well into the night.

The tickets, whether for one day or multiple days, can be a bit pricey though. Many of us camping don't even go to the Festival.

I talked to Travis, the owner/operator of Creekside Camping, and he will cordon off a bigger area for us this year. He didn't give a price, but in the past its been $55-$60 when I show up on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning through Sunday evening. I hope the price hasn't gone up this year.

There is no need to book anything - just show up. You will register and pay as you enter Creekside - usually there is a small trailer parked there. There is no connection to the YMCA other then it is close to the YMCA.

Hey Kurt, unfortunately I won't be makin it this year the reason being I sold my house (of 28 years) and am buying the one next door !! When the buyers said they wanted to close on Apr. 30 I thought no way they would get it together enough to do that, but a miracle (lucky for them) happened and we have to close Monday which means I am packing starting now. Pass on my regrets to the gang. I have not heard from Jack and Jerry but they may show up. I would much rather be doing Merlefest than lifting boxes. Hope this finds you before you leave.

Peace
