Does anyone know if there will be another Blue Ridge Bus Tour later in the year?

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

Hopefully Admins are ok with posting in this thread since most of the wanted posts are for bus parts. Anyway move if need be but anyone that collects there oil would like to get it from you. Bought a new bus awhile back and its a diesel so wanting to convert it. If you fried a turkey, have a jar from making fries, or whatever. If you do not mind bring it to a campout or let me know you have soe ands maybe can work out a shuttle.
Something to think about this year, no worries on disposal, bring it to me and will take care of it! Thanks in advance...

the new truck is plumbed for veggie, coolant hoses are run from the heater core to the bed, and a fuel pump, a huge fuel filter and switch are already wired, all I need is a tank and some veggie. I still cannot get over the fact that I am getting 24MPGs with such a huge truck!

I got four gallons left over from the winter cooking, what campouts are you going to be at?? PM me. It's going to smell like you are cooking a turkey in the engine, no french fries in this oil.

I think running a vehicle on veggie oil is really cool - But BE CAREFUL !! I remember reading a post on one of the previous FMBC sites a few years back, where a Moonie was busted for using non taxed fuel to drive on the higaways, and was given a very expensive citation - seems like it was $1000 bucks. The post said that the NC DMV was out at the Charlotte Motor Speedway before a race, dipping the tanks of the big diesel motorhomes to be sure that the fuel in their tanks had the correct color of dye in it, which indicated that road use tax had been paid on it. The poor Moonie said he was just driving by the speedway in his V-dub with a "Veggie Powered" sticker on the back, when one of the DMV guys spotted it and pulled him over. Since he was running veggie oil, there was no dye in it, and he was busted for running non tax paid fuel on the highway. Turns out he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. From what I understand, they were not checking the big motorhomes in the pits and campgrounds for veggie oil, but were looking for off road or farm use diesel that is not taxed, and has no dye in it, and alot of these rich guys apparently had easy access to it. I remember reading this several years ago, and can't swear to it's authenticity. Any other old timers remember reading about this? Any way, just thought I'd mention this, in case you were thinking about putting a Veggie Powered sticker on your bumper !!

I had not heard of the above^. is veggie oil becoming the new moonshine? Also Jerome, I believe " Petulant Cobra" said he had a bunch, when we talked to him at coastal misgivings. I think he might have even said it was already filtered, but I am not 100% on that.

Had not heard that about the non tax deal. Will check into it, but its kind of weird about the dye. I know if I buy farm use diesel for the shop heater its dyed red and is illegal to run on the road. Need to get somemore barrels or maybe a few old oil tanks to get set up.

Bingham is not just a frustrated driver. He's a North Carolina state senator who pushed through a bill to help other owners of vegetable-oil vehicles to stay out of trouble with the revenuers.

On Monday, North Carolina becomes only the fifth state with exemptions for veggie oil, joining Texas, Illinois Rhode Island and Indiana.

Thanks for the links there, will help greatly!!!

Have another question to throw out there and instead of another thread maybe someone reading this will know. I have a forced air heater (big ones that look and sound like a jet engine) would it be possible to run this on the bio-diesel? Maybe put in a pre-heater?

Apparently that post about getting busted for running veggie oil must have been bogus. I did a little asking around today, and like Jerome said, the off road diesel has red dye in it, but the highway use diesel has no dye in it. So- if they checked his veggie oil and found no red dye in it, then I don't know how they could have given him a citation for untaxed fuel, unless they just smelled of it and knew it was not diesel, but veggie oil. I do know for sure that the DMV was checking the diesel tanks on the motorhomes at the racetrack, however, and they must have been looking for fuel with red dye. One of the local TV station's news crews covered it and they had footage showing the DMV guys dipping the tanks and writing citations. Too bad all the previous FMBC web sites are gone forever - it would be interesting to go back and read what that Moonie said actually happened to him.

Whats also weird is the tax free dyed diesel I buy is usually less than .10 cents difference in price. Plus the difference in the drive/time going out of the way to get it usually get it at the Kroger and can get it cheaper with the points card...hmmm...maybe some gouging going on? All the more reason to switch!

There is a heater that uses, used moter oil, for burning, it's out there just have to find it. You have to put the oil through a filter so it don't clog up the drip valve that controles the amount put into the burner.
