I agree, but the gallery for this software is not all that simple to use, prob why it was harldy used. I am looking into whether there are any plugins to make it easier.

Kewl thanks for the response Collie. I hope more people will utilize it because it's a far easier way for all Moonies to reminisce the campouts. I sure would utilize it to show pics of others and alls' kewl buses

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

I have a 1969 Campmobile I picked up 18 months ago. I am not tech savvy regarding vehicles in the least and need some advice/direction. I cannot tell you about the engine etc but assume it is what came with it originally. IDK. THe main concern I have right now is that since getting "Esther" she has constantly had an issue with jumping out of fourth gear and I have to hold the shifter in place almost constantly. I mentioned it to my VW mech when I stopped in to set up an appt for inspection and he basically said he cannot repair it. After googling around a tad it sounds like the transaxle is the issue and somewhat pricy to fix/replace.repair funds are not readily available at this time. I have been using it and as I said holding the shifter in place but starting to doubt if she is going to last or make it to Riverbus. any suggestions, thoughts, etc. etc, even negative would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hindy

hello Hindy Rebuilding the type2 tranny is a PITA and requires special jigs and tools. Now I do have most of them and can rebuild about 85% of them. It is not cheap to do. You can get a used tranny and take your chances. You might find a rebuilt one at Rancho or bus depot or such. Or I might be able to rebuild one of mine . Trouble with even rebuilding them you still could have problems as they are such a PITA. let me know if I can help later mark d

Hello Hindy, don't know if this will help but you could try the following:

to adjust your shifter undo the 2 bolts holding down the shift rod. Then using a hammer and piece of wood, tap the shift assembly *AWAY* from the gear you find hard to select.

i.e. if you cant get first gear, tap towards bottom right (4th gear).

Don't go too far, just a little at a time then test it. Its best to take your floor mat our and have the tools sitting in your car while u drive around the back streets till you get it nice. It may feel fine while you're sitting still but that doesn't mean it will be ok once your moving.... you've got to drive around to test it.

Or the redneck way, use a bungy coed to hold it in gear until you have the $$ for a good used one or a rebuild.

But, Terrordales is prob a better idea....

I actually considered the Redneck way but she kicks pretty hard when on any upgrade. Afraid of tying her in and needing to get out of gear quick LOL. My arm can get a bit sore holding it in position for a several hour trip.

The bungie cord will work, but it will stress the bearings in the transmission. I drove my Vanagon with a 4th gear bungie for about 5 months (10,000 miles) until I found a usable transmission I could afford. By then the transmission was getting pretty loud.

You don't need a lot of tension on the bungie; so if you need to change gears it shouldn't be that hard to unclip it.
