Does anyone know if there will be another Blue Ridge Bus Tour later in the year?

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

I'm once again dealing with a bad AFM in my 79 westy. I bought my current one about a year ago on the Samba and it's acting up, so I;m going to buy a rebuilt one. My question is this: I have a 1975 1800 motor in my bus, running the FI setup from the 79. Should I use an AFM from the 75 model year or stick with the 79? Not sure if there are fitment issues etc. Thanks, Dave

A '75 AFM would be of the 6 pin variety, while the '79 wiring harness uses a 7 pin. Stick with all '79 stuff. Peace!

The FI system doesn't care about the engine displacement as it measures the air flow to the engine to determine fuel requirements. I have run a 1.8L FI on a 2L and am currently running 2L gear on a 1.7L engine.

What matters is matching the AFM, Throttle Body, Harness, and ECU as a set. Mixing and matching these items across years isn't recommended.

The other components are much more interchangeable.

OK thanks. I've been running the 2.0 system on the 1800 for a few years and it works fine, I was just wondering, since I'm buying a new (rebuilt) AFM if there was a difference. Peace!

I'm once again dealing with a bad AFM in my 79 westy.
I have a 77 Westy with what I think is the original FI system on it. I think I should be getting better performance and gas mileage, but it runs and idles fine. So, just curious, how can you tell that you have a bad AFM unit? What happens?

Thanks!

Bucking/hesitaion at odd intervals. Usually due to the contacts wearing out on the potentiometer in the AFM, under the wiper arm. It's a PITA to figure out the first time it happens to you. Ask me how I know.
