Does anyone know if there will be another Blue Ridge Bus Tour later in the year?

Yep 13 turns is ok. Putting back by number of turns is just a general guide to get it close assuming it was aligned correctly before you started.

Just stopped on my way to work to help a 1977 which I know NOTHING about. His transmission is slipping going up hill and wants to know how much fluid to put in his transmission. I now have him in my parking lot out of the sun and heat.

If it is an automatic???? it should be checked with it running and is just like checking oil (except the engine is running) it should be at the full line, or at least not below the "low" line. I don't know anything about the 4 speed bus tranny, so someone else take care of that answer.

Keep us posted Kelli, I am about 1.5 - 2 hours away if I can be any help. I hope its low fluid, if not it is sounding like he may need a new tranny or rebuild what he has.

Is he a local or a wondering traveler?

I always had the gear oil in my tranny topped off. Dont know how it will effect the slipping, sounds like clutch disc maybe? Try tightening the clutch cable as well. good luck to them!

if its a 4spd , sounds like they need a new clutch, esp since they are try to go cross country !! , might get by with an adjustment of the cable, but I would inspect that to as it might be failing...

Hey everyone. Thanks so much for all the tips and phone calls. We think they are fixed. They are eating some lunch and will be on their way. Next place is Virginia...so if they still have any major issues they will be close to Mark. Next up Baltimore and then towards Justin I think? Jerry helped him adjust the tension on the clutch cable. So they test drove it and all "seems" well. I gave them my phone number in case they run into more troubles. I asked them to update us on their trip on here...yeah for happy endings.

Hey Collie, the guy's name is Paul & he's from Orlando Florida. Seems like a really nice fellow... He had no freeplay at the top of his clutch pedal, took 5 turns of the wingnut just to have a tad of freeplay at the top... He must have burned a tad of his friction plate down with it barely touching the flywheel.

Don't know if you ever got an answer on the manual trans fluid level - it should be filled to bottom of the side plug - you should be able to stick your pinky in there and have it touch /dip trans fluid. It takes a heck of a 6-pointed? bit to get the side plug off.

Let them know I'm down here in Fl. too - only 6 hrs away.....

I took him to 3 places here in town & no allen wrench to be had. I had a bolt at the shop that would fit it. Pb blastered it & still wouldn't budge. He said he would pick one up on down the road.
